The 2015 edition of SummerSlam promises to be "the biggest SummerSlam of all time". So big that they decided to make the event 4 hours long with a staggering 10 matches on the card, a timely tradition usually reserved for Wrestlemania. Today, I'll be giving my preview and predictions for each match on the card.
*Dolph Ziggler vs Rusev
-This match has been building for months. Ever since Ziggler locked lips with Lana back in early summer, Rusev has had a personal vendetta towards him and Lana. This match on paper looks like it'll be a really good match. I'm most certain Lana will get involved in some kind of physical capacity. I'm predicting that Ziggler will get the upper hand on Rusev. Lana will also give Summer Rae what she deserves. A good ole fashioned Accolade submission hold.
*Team Bella vs. Team B.A.D. vs. Team P.C.B.
-The "Divas Revolution" is starting to to heat up. So, it's only right that they have a big match on the biggest show of the summer. Very hard to predict but I'm gonna go with Team Bella to pick up the victory ONLY because Team Bella has been the weak link since the Divas Revolution started back in July.
*Kevin Owens vs Cesaro
-Two great former indie wrestlers are looking to STEAL THE SHOW and there's a guaranteed chance they will. This match will definitely be a move for move mat classic. Owens needs a win! A win here will keep his momentum at a steady pace. Cesaro has taken many L's in the past. One more wouldn't hurt.
*Stephen Amell and Neville vs Stardust and King Barrett
-I honestly do not know how to feel about this match. I get the whole "celebrity" shtick SummerSlam brings, but I've never truly been a fan of matches involving celebrities. I'll be perfectly fine watching Neville fly all over the arena and get a victory via the Red Arrow with some help from the Green Arrow of course.
*Prime Time Players vs New Day vs Los Matadores vs Lucha Dragons in a Fatal 4 Way tag team match for the WWE Tag Team Championships
-Should be a great showcase of tag team action. This is a strong contender for match of the night behind Owens-Cesaro. My prediction for the winner might shock people, but I have a feeling that Los Matadores will walk out of Brooklyn as the NEW....WWE Tag Team Champions.
*Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns vs Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper
-Billed as "Family vs Family". Shield brothers Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns look to settle the score with the Wyatt Family. The match should be solid, but I believe that a major turn will happen. I'm hoping its Reigns. There's money in him being a heel, but signs point to Ambrose turning on his brother and joining the family. With that said, Bray gets another victory over Roman.
*Ryback vs Miz vs Big Show in a triple threat match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship
-We were supposed to see this match at WWE Battleground last month, but Ryback was sidelined due to a staph infection. Now he's back and the match is ON! Ryback retaining makes sense. The match itself? Could be a tragedy.
*Randy Orton vs Sheamus
-For the 100th time we will see this match. WWE should've raised the stakes by putting Sheamus' Money in the Bank Briefcase on the line, but it's the WWE.......
There's signs pointing to a potential cash in from Sheamus later in the night. Given recent history. Orton will of course hit Sheamus with another RKO from out of nowhere for the 1,2,3. Sheamus will get the last laugh if he cashes in and is crowned the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
*John Cena vs Seth Rollins. Title for Title (WWE World Heavyweight Champion and the WWE United States Championship) WINNER TAKE ALL
-The on and off feud between John Cena and Seth Rollins has reached a dramatic point. On an episode of Raw, Rollins broke the nose of Cena mid match. Cena was able to finish the match and get a submission victory on Rollins. Rollins would then issue a challenge to Cena. Both of their respective titles on the line, WINNER. TAKE. ALL. Cena would return from injury on the go home show of SummerSlam early this week to sign the contract for their eventual clash. During the contract signing, Cena would bring up the fact that Rollins is fighting for not only his legacy as champion but HHH's as well. If Cena wins he'll tie HHH's mentor Ric Flair for most world title reigns in pro wrestling history. Cena seems determined to crush the future of the WWE. Rollins MUST PROVE that the future is NOW. 4 scenarios I see happening for the finish.
1.) Cena wins his 16th world title and the wrestling world collectively riots.
2.) Rollins wins clean. I would like to see Rollins make Cena tap out by using the STF submission move. Would be poetic.
3. Double DQ finish with both men not caring about the titles being on the line and just wanting to destroy each other.
4. Cena or Rollins barely win and here comes Sheamus himself cashing in his Money in the Bank Briefcase. One Brogue Kick and your new WWE World Heavyweight, Sheamus
*The Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar
-Undertaker and Brock Lesnar have had MANY battles in the past. This one seems to be the end of it all. The war to settle the score. Armageddon. The definitive end to rivalry that's been going on since September 2002. Brock Lesnar, the man who broke The Undertaker's undefeated streak at Wrestlemania 30. The Undertaker, a vengeful soul who cost Brock a chance to once again become world champion at Battleground. A good portion of the wrestling world dislikes this match once again happening because it seems so predictable with an Undertaker victory to close the PPV. I think WWE will have Brock go over the Undertaker once again. Although Taker winning seems more likely to happen. The E has a consistent way of changing plans in the middle of the show. So let's hope that Brock can go over on Taker one last time and may this feud FINALLY REST IN PEACE!
