Ring Of Honor Review 1/16/16

By Nathan Neumann (Twitter: @Headliner5)

Hello to my Eyes On The Ring faithful! I’m back once again with another Dose of Honor as 2016 rolls on.  This week Kevin Kelly was joined once again by Mr. Wrestling 3--who is totally not Steve Corino. Stop believing everything you read on the Internet! It’s totally not him. Now that that is out of the way, lets get down to business.

Match 1
The Addiction vs. ACH and Alex Shelley

Thoughts: Interesting match this week and I like how they worked it and made reference to the fact that Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin (who was with The Addiction at ringside) were once a team so they played that up very nicely and it was a nice touch.  Daniels grabs Shelley on the apron and Kazarian goes to hit Shelley but Shelley moves and Daniels is hit inadvertently. ACH does a bunch of flips because he can before hitting Daniels with two consecutive drop kicks.  Daniels hits an STO and Shelley hits an STO of his own into the turnbuckle on Kazarian. The match comes to an end when The Addiction hits Celebrity Rehab to win the match via pinfall.

Match Result: The Addiction defeat ACH and Alex Shelley via pinfall after celebrity rehab.

Match Rating: **

After the match, the Addiction jump Alex Shelley and knock out Paul Turner in the process while Sabin is conflicted on whether or not he should help his former tag team partner or the Addiction. Nigel McGuinness comes out and suspends Christopher Daniels without pay after he hit Paul Turner.

From there we head to the next match of the night.

Match 2
Adam Page vs. Mark Briscoe

Thoughts: The match begins and Mark wastes no time springing off of the second rope and nailing Adam Page in the face with a punch. Mark follows that up with a brainbuster for a near fall. Page recovers and works over Briscoe before hitting him with a powerslam into the turnbuckle. Page rolls to the outside of the ring and Mark gets on the apron.  He runs off of the apron and hits Page with a blockbuster on the outside.  Back in the ring Mark hits a lariat for a near fall.  Page recovers and hits the slingshot lariat but Mark kicks out.  Mark recovers and once again regains the advantage by hitting a fisherman buster, he follows it up by making his way to the top rope and nailing Page with a Froggy Bow to pick up the win via pinfall.

Match Result: Mark Briscoe defeats Adam Page via pinfall after the Froggy Bow.

Match Rating **1/2

After the match, BJ Whitmer is complaining that Mr. Wrestling 3 is Steve Corino but he’s totally wrong because it’s obviously not him. Whitmer gets in the ring and is still going on about Mr. Wrestling 3 being Corino and demands that he unmasks. He doesn’t. The crowd ate this segment up and the heat that Whitmer got was absolutely unreal.

Up next Silas Young makes his way out to the ring and says that he took the Boys and made them men.  He then goes on to say that the boys are ungrateful for what he did for them.

From there we head into the main event of the evening.

Match 3
The Young Bucks vs. ReDRagon vs. The Kingdom

Thoughts: The Bucks can’t wait for the bell to ring and attack ReDRagon in the entrance way. The Young Bucks then run into the ring and attack the Kingdom as streamers fly into the ring. Bobby Cruise who was at this point was still in the ring gets kicked in the face by both Matt and Nick.  Adam Cole runs off of both ropes and then locks Matt Jackson in a sleeper as the crowd boos Cole.  Matt grabs a steel chair and hits Cole across the back with it.  O’Reilly jumps off of the apron and gets kicked in the face by Nick Jackson who is outside of the ring.

Bennett who was backstage gets put into a wheelbarrow and wheeled down the entrance ramp and is met by Matt Jackson who kicks him in the face.  Back in the ring and The Young Bucks hit More Bang For Your Buck on Bennett but Cole pulls the referee out of the ring before he can hit 3. Nick hops on the apron and O’Reilly grabs a chair on the outside, Nick runs and kicks the chair into O’Reilly’s face. O’Reilly recovers and him and Fish hit Chasing The Dragon on Bennett on the outside of the ring and I seriously think Bennett may be dead. IT’S A MIRACLE...

Still outside the ring, Bennett gets speared through a table. Kyle O’Reilly, who is on the apron, gets knocked off and crashes awkwardly through a table and gets hit with a Matt Jackson Frog splash. AJ Styles runs into the ring and hits Bennett with a chair and follows it up with Bloody Sunday. Maria finds herself in the ring and gets hit with a Meltzer Driver.  AJ Styles grabs Michael Bennett in position for a Styles Clash.  The Bucks kick Bennett in the face and Styles drops Bennett with the Clash. Nick Jackson follows it up by pinning Michael Bennett for the 1-2-3.

Match Result: The Young Bucks defeat ReDRagon and The Kingdom via pinfall after a Styles Clash/Superkick combination.

Match Rating: ***

Very fun match to end a great hour of ROH Wrestling if you can watch it this week do it, you wont be disappointed. 2016 is looking to be a great year for ROH already and we are just getting started.
