Well.... we've arrived back at No Way Out week on the site. Now, the thing about this one is that No Way Out has had some peculiar matches over the years. To limit this list to just 5 would almost be impossible, so I'm going to run off a list of the 10 worst matches over the PPV's history. Some of these matches you may remember, some of them you may not, but regardless, these are without a doubt the worst No Way Out matches ever. Let's get into it.
10. Santino Marella vs Ricardo Rodriguez (No Way Out 2012)
-This was a tuxedo match. I mean.... how much more do I really need to say? It wasn't what you call a real match, but because it was pointless and absolutely stupid, it belongs on this damn list without question. Santino picks up the win if anybody was wondering. No? Well, shit, let me move on to the next piece of crap.
9. Finlay and Hornswoggle vs The Boogeyman and Little Boogeyman (No Way Out 2007)
-Now, you see anything with the Boogeyman attached to it is absolutely going to be terrible. He was a hilarious character, but match wise, he was stinking out the joint. Finlay was a great in ring performer when he wanted to be in his earlier years, but add age as a factor and two midgets who can't wrestle and you have the main issue with this whole thing. Finlay and Hornswoggle end up with the victory unfortunately in a strange tag team match.
8. The Undertaker vs Luther Reigns (No Way Out 2005)
-You know, the WWE has disrespected the Undertaker over the year. Giant Gonzalez. King Kong Bundy at Mania. Psycho Sid. I mean, the rumored match with the horrid Braun Strowman for this year's Mania. I mean my lord, there was that one time it seemed like Taker and Kane would team up to fight Snitsky and Heindereich at Wrestlemania 21. This is yet another match that falls under that disrespect category. Luther Reigns was not a good wrestler. Taker was not really able to control the pace. Taker wins a pretty subpar match. Nothing good came from this at all.
7. Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty vs Basham Brothers and Shaniqua (No Way Out 2004)
-Not sure who had the bright idea of a three on two mixed handicap match, but this was horrible. Rikishi was never a great in ring guy and when you put him in there in this setting, he was just downright boring. The match was devoid of chemistry and though Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty retained, I wish that match would have never happened. Period.
6. The Undertaker vs Big Show (No Way Out 2003)
-Another Undertaker match. Taker always gets saddled with big opponents and this was another Big Show vs Taker match, and this one had an even slower pace than usual. Taker gets the win, but I found this match to be pretty bland, a bit sloppy, and it would lead to one of the worst Mania matches in Taker's career, only adding to the terrible feel of this match in retrospect.
5. The Rock vs Hulk Hogan(No Way Out 2003)
-The most disappointing rematch in the history of wrestling in so many ways. This match sucked. It was a waste. It ruined the essence of their first match, which wasn't a mat classic by any standard, but it was an once in a lifetime experience. This match was short, sloppy and had a really stupid finish. Two of the greatest ever in a rematch with Hogan donning his yellow and red and Rock in full Hollywood Rock mode..... and that shit is absolute garbage.
4. John Cena vs Big Show (No Way Out 2012)
-This should be no. 1 really. In 2012. A match that opened Wrestlemania 20 in 2004 is main eventing in 2012 over a match involving CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. Yeah..... enough said. This match was pretty bad and the inclusion of Johnny Ace just made it even worse. Cena never fit as the rebel against authority so this whole thing plus the 97th Big Show heel turn was just a waste.
3. Steven Richards vs Jerry Lawler (No Way Out 2001)
-I covered this match in a previous article. Insignificant. Waste of time. Steven wins in about 5 minutes and The Kat has to join his group Right to Censor. The end.
2. Mark Henry vs Viscera (No Way Out 2000)
-Two big black dudes. No real storyline. Only 5 minutes of match time available. Mae Young. I mean..... is there really anything else I have to say. This match goes about 3 and a half minutes and Mark gets the victory, but this was another clunker that didn't really need to happen.
1. Triple H vs Scott Steiner (No Way Out 2003)
-Big Poppa Pump is your hookup..... HOLLA IF YA HEAR ME!!! One problem... the Big Bad Booty Daddy couldn't wrestle anymore due to all the damn steroids he took. This match was carried by Triple H, but it was still terrible. Their Rumble match the month prior was bad, but I'm sorry this was slightly worse. No chemistry between the two and Steiner could barely even move to do his holds or high offense moves. Terrible match in many ways and terrible feud as well.
What about your worst matches list? Did I miss anything on here? Write in the comments below.
