Ring Of Honor TV Review 4/9/16

By Nathan Neumann (Twitter: @Headliner5)

Hello and welcome to another one of my ROH TV Reviews for both http://www.EyesOnTheRing.com and http://www.4CRWrestling.com this review was supposed to be done on Sunday but due to my crazy work schedule I wasn’t able to do it so here we are two days later but better late than never. This continues the set of tapings after the 14th anniversary from Sam’s Town in Las Vegas. So, without any further ado let’s get to it!

Match 1
Roppongi Vice vs. War Machine {C}
ROH World Tag Team Championship Match

Thoughts: RPG Vice jump War Machine before the bell even rings and Barretta hits a moonsault on Rowe for a quick near fall. Romero gets hung out on the ropes by Hanson before he kicks him out of the ring as we head to a commercial break.  Back from the break and Rowe accidentally hits Hanson with shotgun knees to the chest.  Romero hits three clotheslines on Rowe in the corner before Rowe comes back with one of his own.

RPG Vice hit dueling high knees on Hanson.  Hanson and Rowe set up for a double powerbomb spot and throw Barretta and Romero into each other back-to-back.  Barretta recovers and dives to the outside of the ring onto Hanson but gets caught before Hanson powerbombs him on the apron. The match comes to a conclusion when War Machine hit Fall Out to score the pinfall victory.

Match Result: Hanson and Rowe defeat Roppongi Vice via pinfall after Fall Out to retain the ROH World Tag Team Titles.

Match Rating: **1/2

From there, we get Prince Nana and Donovan Dijak in the ring. Prince Nana has a microphone in hand. He says that the contents in the envelopes that he’s been sending out are top secret. Lethal rushes the ring and attacks Dijak and the two end up brawling all over the place while having to be pulled apart by referees and other personal before heading to break.

Dalton Castle cuts a pre-taped promo talking about his match with Silas Young he says he is fighting this match to hurt Silas Young. From there, we go to the next match of the night.

Match 2
ACH vs. Kenny Omega

Thoughts: The match begins and ACH locks on an armbar early ACH hits a Thesz press and follows it up with the shit-talking elbow drop before hitting a dropkick.  ACH flips to the outside of the ring but gets kicks in the head by Nick Jackson who is at ringside along with Matt for this match.  Kenny Omega hits a fireman’s carry roll through but ACH chops him as Omega makes his way back up to his feet. ACH hits Omega and the Bucks on the outside with a vaulting body press as Mr. Wrestling 3 drops the “All Eyes on ACH” quote.

Back in the ring, ACH hits the dum dum stomp for a near fall. Both men get back to their feet before Omega chops ACH in the back before hitting a tiger suplex. ACH comes back and hits a brainbuster to get a near fall. The two scramble for a bit in a cool looking offensive sequence from both but nothing really happens before ACH hits Omega with a Stone Cold Stunner complete with Omega selling it like the Rock via Wrestlemania X-7 to give ACH a near fall.  ACH goes to the top rope but misses the attempt at the midnight star. Kenny Omega gets the win via pinfall after hitting the One Winged Angel on ACH.

Match Result: Kenny Omega defeats ACH via pinfall after the One Winged Angel

Match Result: ***

Super fun match on free TV; you can’t go wrong with that. From here, we head into match 3, which is the main event of the evening.

Main Event – Match 3
Silas Young vs. Dalton Castle
Fight Without Honor

Thoughts: The match begins with the two brawling on the outside of the ring; Dalton slides into the ring and quickly comes back out with a suicide dive through the middle and bottom ropes. Dalton then runs from one side of the ring to the other and tries to knee Silas in the head but Silas moves and pushes Dalton back to the outside.  Dalton backs Silas up against the ring post and goes for a chop but accidentally hits the ring post. Dalton, while still selling the hand, hops up on the apron and runs off of it with a jumping knee to Silas.

Dalton goes for a spin through hurricanranna but Silas catches him and powerbombs him onto a folding chair.  Back in the ring Silas locks on an STF to try and get a submission victory. Silas hits a neckbreaker for a near fall after trading shots with Castle momentarily. Silas hits a TKO for another near fall but Castle kicks out once again.  Silas calls for the boys and they make their presence felt and according to Silas it’s just in time to see Dalton lose.

Silas dives to the outside and hits the boys after they sacrificed themselves for Dalton.  Dalton goes for the Bang a Rang but Silas hangs onto the ropes only to get flipped out of the ring crashing and burning through a table. After all that, Silas manages to kick out! The match would finally come to an end when Dalton Castle hits the Bang a Rang onto a bunch of chairs to score the pinfall victory.

Match Result: Dalton Castle defeats Silas Young via pinfall after the Bang A Rang

Match Rating: ***

Really good show this week and definitely one you should check out if you have the time.  The weakest match on this show was RPG vice vs. War Machine. But, even the weakest match was still pretty damn good.

That however will do it for me and another one of my ROH Reviews for both http://www.EyesOnTheRing.com and http://www.4CRWrestling.com thanks for reading and make sure to follow me on Twitter @Headliner5 so we can talk some wrestling.  Also make sure to follow both @EyesOnTheRing and @4CRadio for all of your social media and wrestling needs.
