Shane McMahon was never the greatest wrestler. He never will be. Though I wasn't a big fan of his match with The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 32 and I have no interest in seeing him fight Brock or anyone else for that matter, but his legacy is actually solidified in the ring, believe it or not. Today, we look back at his minimal in ring career and see what are the best matches in the career of Shane McMahon. Let's get into it.
5. Shane McMahon vs Randy Orton
No Way Out 2009
-A true underrated sleeper here. Randy and Shane went at it for almost 20 minutes and stole the show on an otherwise solid PPV that included two Elimination Chamber matches. Shane took Orton to the limit before coming up short of course, falling to a RKO. Legacy interfered and attacked Shane, but he eventually fought them off in this really solid No Holds Barred Match. Shane put on a great performance and gave Orton one of his best matches of 2009, which says a lot.
4. Shawn Michaels vs Shane McMahon
Saturday Night's Main Event (2006)
-Shawn vs Shane.... was actually better than Shawn vs Vince. The Shawn vs Vince match has much more of an epic feel for it, but this was a better match. Shawn hit a massive super plex through the table from a ladder, a massive spot that elevated a great match in general. Shane would pick up the victory however, with some outside interference in this street fight.
3. Shane McMahon vs Test
Summerslam 1999
-Every Shane match is a match that has no rules or is No Holds Barred or of that variety. This match was no different, as it was a "Love Her Or Leave Her" match (based around Test and his relationship with Stephanie) and is surprisingly a really good and entertaining contest, from the interference of the Mean Street Posse to the finish that has Test get the victory and embrace with Shane's relatively unknown at the time sister Stephanie. Not a classic, but a pretty solid match in general.
2. Shane McMahon vs Vince McMahon
Wrestlemania 17 (2001)
-Another street fight, another great match, this one is a classic. Vince and Shane are not real wrestlers, yet they put on a classic showing and a contender for best match of the night on the greatest Wrestlemania of all time. Mick Foley is the referee, we see the end of the Linda McMahon is in a coma stare storyline, the breaking down of Trish vs Stephanie, and Shane hitting a huge move to close out the match and pin Vince. The match was truly entertaining and it is almost the best match of Shane's career. What's the best?
1. Shane McMahon vs Kurt Angle
King of The Ring 2001
-Kurt usually gives most wrestlers their best matches period anyways, but he had one of the most vicious and brutal matches ever with Shane that almost saw both men damn near die. Shane and Kurt went at it for 30 minutes of no holds barred, street fight, and hardcore drama, with Shane going through the PPV set and taking a top rope Angle slam before eventually falling victim and losing. This is the most masterful performance in Shane's career, and one of Kurt's. This match is certainly a classic and the best Shane match ever. I don't think that'll ever change either.
-True
