EOTR ROH Reviews: 11/5/16

By @Headliner5

Hello everyone and welcome to another one of my ROH TV reviews. It's been a few weeks but we are back in the swing of things and this week's episode was a good one to watch and the hour seemed to flow quickly which is always a good thing. We begin by going right to the ring for the first match of the night.

Match 1
Michael Elgin vs. Toru Yano

Thoughts:
Toru Yano scored an upset over Michael Elgin in this past summer's G1 Climax tournament for New Japan Pro Wrestling so this was a rematch from that. The match begins with Yano stalling at the start before running into Elgin as fast as he can before finally getting knocked to the mat after running into him a third time. Yano gets up and goes for a handshake, but Elgin squeezes Yano's hand and brings Yano to the ground. Elgin backs Yano into the ropes where he punches him repeatedly. Yano comes back and hits a drop toehold on the outside onto the steps on the entrance ramp. Back in the ring, Yano removes a turnbuckle pad and hits Elgin with it repeatedly. Yano begins working Elgin over by choking him with the tag rope. The two then begin fighting in the corner near the exposed turnbuckle. Elgin sends Yano into the corner where the exposed turnbuckle is located, but Yano puts on the breaks before coming back out of the corner to get power slammed. Yano recovers and grabs Elgin's beard before Elgin hits him with a Falcon Arrow for a near fall. Elgin takes another turnbuckle off of the top of the ring and hits Yano with it. Yano catapults Elgin into the exposed turnbuckle before hitting Elgin with a low blow to roll him up for a near fall. Michael Elgin scores the match deciding pinfall after hitting a sit out Elgin Bomb for the 1-2-3.

Match Result:
Michael Elgin defeats Toru Yano via pinfall after a Sit out Elgin bomb

Match Rating: **1/2

Fun back and forth match even though I'm still not a fan of Yano. Next, we see Bobby Fish who hypes up a match with Hangman Page for next week saying that Page is not the man who is going to unseat the King.

From there, we go to the second match of the night.

Match 2
Dragon Lee vs. Bobby Fish {C}
Proving Ground match for a future shot at the World Television Championship

Thoughts:
The two begin the match by locking up before Lee quickly brings the match to the ground which causes Fish to roll out of the ring almost immediately. Fish recovers before getting back in the ring only to take an arm drag from Lee. Dragon Lee brings Fish to the ground by scissoring his left leg. Fish reverses it and applies a rear chin lock on the ground before the two get back to their feet and begin trading strikes. Lee lands a kick to the ribs and goes back to the chin lock. Lee hits a hurricanrana sending Fish to the outside of the ring. Lee comes through the ropes with a suicide dive taking Fish out. Back in the ring, Lee sends Fish into the ropes before hitting a German suplex, then Lee hits two rolling northern lights suplexes and follows it up with a brainbuster. Fish comes back with a flurry of kicks before picking up a near fall. Lee catches Fish by the leg and locks on an STF but Fish finds his way to the ropes.  Fish makes it back to his feet and goes for a brainbuster on Lee but Fish' ribs give out on him. Dragon Lee scores the win via pinfall via La Majistral cradle to earn himself a future shot at the ROH World Television Championship.

Match Result:
Dragon Lee defeats Bobby Fish via pinfall after rolling him up with a La Majistral cradle to earn a future shot at the ROH World Television Championship.

Match Rating: **

Fun match and the actual title match should be better if given enough time and if it's on a significant event and not TV, but it could still be good if it's on TV as well.

We then are reminded that Bobby Fish will defend the ROH TV Title against Hangman Page next week so Dragon Lee may not get his title shot against Fish after all pending the result of next week's match.

From there, we go to a backstage pre taped promo where Taven says that time is up and that his kingdom has come.

We go to the third and final  match of the night.

Main Event - Match 3
The Kingdom (Matt Taven, Vinnie Marseglia and TK O'Ryan) vs. The Bullet Club (Adam Cole, Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson)
ROH Six Man Tag Team Tournament First Round Match

Thoughts:
Just so you know before I get into talking about this match, I may not be able to do it justice because a lot happened and I can only take notes (or in this case tweet) so fast. The match begins with all six men brawling in the ring before they all spill out to the outside. The Bullet Club triple super kicks all three Kingdom members off of the apron before going to a commercial. Back from commercial and all six men are on the outside of the ring where all three Bullet Club members powerbomb all three members of the Kingdom on the ring frame. Cole gets Marseglia in a camel clutch while everyone is fighting around them before it gets broken up. TK O'Ryan drops Matt Jackson with a modified Rocker Dropper for a near fall. Taven hits a moonsault on Matt Jackson for a near fall. TK O'Ryan hits a spear on Nick Jackson for another near fall. O'Ryan hits a backpack stunner on Matt then Taven and Marseglia follow it up by nailing Matt with double dropkicks for a near fall.  Nick gets the tag into the match and comes out with a bunch of kicks and punches, TK O'Ryan goes for a pump handle slam before getting kicked in the face. Cole and Taven begin going at it as this is the first time they have touched each other so far during the match and Cole gets the upper hand after hitting a Shining Wizard to create a near fall situation. Taven recovers and hits a flipping neckbreaker for a near fall. The Kingdom hits a triple powerbomb on Cole for a near fall, but it's broken up by both of the Bucks. Cole recovers and goes for a Panama City Destroyer but Taven rolls through before getting hit with a super kick. Cole and the Bucks bring it together once again to hit a turnbuckle powerbomb kick attempt before Cole hits a destroyer for a near fall. The Bullet Club goes for a double Indy Taker but Marseglia is able to stop it. The Kingdom picks up the win after Taven hits a Climax (I'm not sure why he's still calling it that but whatever) and Vinnie Marseglia follows it up with a top rope senton bomb to score the deciding pinfall.

Match Result: The Kingdom defeats The Bullet Club via pinfall after Vinnie Marseglia hits a top rope senton bomb.

Match Rating: ***

Awesome main event this week and Matt Taven's Kingdom made a statement by defeating the Bullet Club, which is a great way to debut a new stable. I had my doubts but I'm all in on Matt Taven's Kingdom.

That however will do it for me and another ROH TV review.  I'll try and be more consistent going forward. This show is a great way to spend an hour if you are looking for some easy to watch wrestling, as this show was very enjoyable. Until next time, I am Nathan saying so long and I look forward to providing you with your next dose of honor!
